ESG STRATEGY OF M-MARKET A.S.

ESG Program

E

Carbon neutrality and environmentally sustainable business

S

Social and employment parameters

G

COMPANY MANAGEMENT AND DECISION-MAKING SYSTEM

E

CARBON NEUTRALITY AND ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS

Carbon neutrality is the result of reducing greenhouse gases generated by society. These are also expressed as the equivalent of a "carbon footprint", i.e. the volume of emissions per year generated by a person, organization, building, etc.. In the context of the ESG strategy, knowing the carbon footprint is as important as knowing the organization's expenses. The basis is the identification of the so-called load sources. carbon emission "hotspots", followed by the calculation of the carbon footprint and the adoption of targets for a downward trend. If the decrease is not ensured, corrective measures follow.

S

Social and employment parameters

The ESG strategy in the "social" area shows how the company solves social and employment problems and what goals it has set for increasing social equality. We see the social aspect of this strategy as divided into the following areas.

RELATIONSHIPS

The company's relations with employees, as well as suppliers and customers, can be viewed through a quantitative lens. They are e.g. wages, in line with the industry? Do the employees like to work and how high is the employee turnover rate? How do suppliers and customers perceive cooperation with the company and will they continue to support this business? We recognize that the way a business treats employees affects employee retention and productivity. In our company, we understand that the company's relationships with the larger social circle, including customers and suppliers, also have a direct financial benefit.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Community relations refers to how our company benefits or harms the surrounding community. We are a locally, regionally measured company. Examples of measurable aspects are community recruitment, philanthropy and local resources. The environmental aspect of ESG also has a strong local cross section, as business practices can affect the local community environment. In a broader sense, human rights are the basic pillar of social evaluation.

DIVERSITY, INCLUSION AND TALENT SUPPORT

Gender diversity improves corporate governance, talent attraction and human capital development – all important factors supporting long-term competitiveness. We believe that corporate policies supporting gender diversity are a reflection of a well-run company that recognizes the value of diversity in stimulating creativity and increasing productivity along with employee well-being.

G

COMPANY MANAGEMENT AND DECISION-MAKING SYSTEM

We are witnessing the fact that financial institutions and business partners are increasingly interested in the integrity of our company's management and structure. Key "G" factors such as board diversity, executive pay, financial processes, competitive fairness, anti-corruption practices and business ethics are coming to the fore like never before.

BALANCE OF CONTROL

Sme presvedčení, že spoločnosť, ktorá ignoruje slabé miesta v riadení, obmedzuje svoj vlastný potenciál. Prípadné škody na trhoch, investoroch a vlastnej pracovnej sile môžu byť katastrofálne. Udržiavanie rovnováhy medzi zodpovedným riadením a zdravou ziskovosťou si vyžaduje ostražitosť, pokiaľ ide o kľúčové faktory popísané vyššie.  Preto sme sa rozhodli pomocou princípov stratégie ESG riešiť aj tak výsostnú oblasť, akou je riadenie a rozhodovanie firmy a implementovať princípy zodpovedného riadenia.
